itinerary: malacca, malaysia

oh yes, here i go again, just popping out of the blue! even the graph of my stats screams utter boredom and it's going down down... well, i'm just glad that it hasn't reached zero yet. haha!

where have i been in these few months? i've been working but not that i'm extremely busy with work which is an incredible change by the way. i'm guessing that the writing spirit in me has gone on vacation somewhere really far, say to timbuktu! but i would like to think that it's back and it settles just fine here in singapore. :)

two occurrences had probably somehow pushed me to continue writing a disarray of words and thoughts. first, i followed lonely planet on twitter and to my disbelief, it followed me back! yeah, probably it just follows anyone who follows them but still, it's lonely planet! haha and with that, i rest my case.

second, paulo coelho's blog post on travel found its way on my facebook's news feed, courtesy of the sole sisters' facebook post and i couldn't agree more on his thoughts on travelling.

but before i get lost in another long introduction which i likely do every time, here's my itinerary on my recent trip to malacca, malaysia during the chinese new year. breinn was with me, so yeah!

the christmas season in a not so far away land

the not so far away land is just 4 hours away by plane from home. though those hours can mean shelling out more money than my comfort during the christmas season. so, i stayed in this little red dot in the globe which is singapore!

it was the first time i was away from home during christmas. not that we really have such a big celebration in our family. it's more of the time that we spend together because all throughout the year each of us has our own affairs. my brother and i engulf with our work in separate locations. my sister with her studies while my parents are back home nurturing the future generation of the philippines.

it's also the time that we will be able to catch up with our relatives, bond with them and give small gifts to each other for it's the spirit of gift-giving after all. for the past 3 years or so, every christmas i come up with some little things that i can give to my relatives who are simply living the rural life sans the city's rat race. that would have to forgo in 2011 and good thing, my brother was there to fill that post.

Christmas 2011

it wasn't really a very dramatic christmas in which i would be all alone in my room, crying my heart out with no one to talk to over the phone or in the internet because everyone would be fussing all around at home. but probably for a minute, it kinda hit me but not that hard for i was able to spend my christmas with my cousins who are already based here in singapore for many years. i had myself adopted by them during the christmas eve, went to mass, and overloaded my body with much carbo to last me a month!

flying with silkair - cebu to singapore

this blog has yet again taken one of its many frequent pauses (both palms on my face now). anyway, i kinda have a valid excuse this time, because i just recently did the biggest decision in my life which i think i hinted in my previous posts. so after i was finished with my 2 month-notice period at work (and yeah, i quit!), i then made a roundabout course in my life and decided to move out not just into a different city but into a different country altogether which is singapore!

that's why, i'll be talking about the route from cebu to singapore through silkair. :)

silkair serves as the regional wing of singapore airlines with flights across the asia pacific including india and china. it has direct flights to both cebu and davao and it has daily flights in and out of cebu although on some days it still detours to davao.

Silkair Airbus A320
and yes, because this airline is a wholly owned subsidiary of singapore airlines, one would expect that this is not in any way a budget airline. there's no slight chance ever to hope for their international airfares to go as low as your fare to the neighboring town.

but looking at the different aspects of an airline, i pretty much valued its services and i could say that i definitely got what i deserved though i was only flying with economy class during my flights with them.

well, here are the highlights of my experience with silkair.
